Laboratory testing found that samples of this product contain the synthetic stimulant 1,3-dimethylbutylamine (DMBA), which is an analogue to 1,3-dimethylamylamine (DMAA), a substance that has been banned by the US Food and Drug Administration. Synonyms for DMBA include: 4-AMP, AMP citrate, Pentergy, 4-amino-2-methylpentane citrate, 1,3-dimethylbutylamine citrate, and 4-amino-2-pentanamine. There is no research assessing the safety of DMBA in patients, however some animal research suggests that DMBA has similar stimulant effects to DMAA (26231). DMAA can potentially increase blood pressure and increase the risk of adverse cardiovascular events. DMAA-containing products have been linked to over 40 serious adverse event reports including adverse cardiovascular, metabolic, nervous system, and psychiatric events. Reports of death have also occurred (17660,17663,17904,17906,17907,17908,17958). Advise patients not to take this product due to DMBA content.
